Legal Process and Communication

  1. Schedule a consultation (video or in-person).
  2. Sign a representation agreement and pay representation fee, if agreeable.
  3. The firm notifies the court of representation.
  4. The firm will obtain and review case information from the opposing side.
  5. Open communication is key to success in your case. Clients are encouraged to keep  a good line of communication with Battlefield Law Group and their attorney.

You will receive updates from legal assistants or your attorney via phone, text,  and/or email as new information becomes available.

  • Traffic infractions may not require your presence if an attorney represents you.
    • Many  courts will require a waiver of appearance and your attorney can assist you with this.
    • For Criminal and DUI/DWI Cases, your presence is generally required and always  highly recommended. Your attorney will guide you based on your case specifics.

Case durations vary and you will have a better idea from your individual consultation  with your attorney. Some expected ranges of time depending on case:

  • Traffic infractions: 1-3 months
  • Misdemeanors: 1-12 months
  • Felonies: Greatly dependent on case complexity
  • Expungements: 1 – 3 months for the hearing to have the expungement  ordered by the court and another 6 – 12 months for the charge to be expunged from the record.

Your attorney will meet you at court, keep you informed during negotiations, and  present any plea offers. They will guide you through every step. If negotiations or  offers are not to your liking, your attorney will prepare you for a trial.

Typically, client interaction with the judge is minimal. If required, your attorney will  prepare you thoroughly.
